I have always wanted to shoot a proposal. And this weekend, the stars aligned to make it possible for me to shoot one. I got a call from Kyle on Wednesday seeing if I was available on Saturday night. Normally, during this time of year I don’t have a single Saturday off. And this Saturday was no different. But luckily, the wedding that I was shooting was early in the afternoon and coverage was done in time for me to get downtown and photograph Kyle asking Mary to be his wife. Man oh man am I glad it worked out.
Kyle had this huge plan worked out that included many of his friends and family. While he took Mary out to dinner at Larkin’s on the River, his “Flash Mob” was coordinating and practicing the surprise.
Kyle told Mary that they were going to meet two of their friends in Falls Park after dinner. Here’s what really happened: A guitarist was playing at Bowater Ampitheater near the entrance of the park. As Kyle and Mary walked into the park, they stopped to listen to the performer who happened to be playing a special song: “You and I” by Ingrid Michaelson.
As the song progressed, different groups of singers came out of hiding and joined in the song. Before long, Kyle and Mary were being serenaded by a “Flash Mob” of their closest friends and family.
And then….
Kyle proposed.
And Mary said Yes. 
Of course there were tears…
And lots of celebrating.

I think Mary was pretty overwhelmed at this point…
And pretty content at this point.
