New Year, New Couches

So far, 2010 is kick ass.  Rewind to a couple weeks ago — My oldest sister just bought new furniture for her house in Atlanta and offered her old furniture to Jason and I.  ”Old furniture” in this case really means “ONLY 5 or so years old furniture”.  WHICH, fyi, is a lot better than our previous “30 years old furniture”!  Fast forward to 1/1/10 when my sweetie pie Dad drove 2 hours to Atlanta, 3.5 hours to Greenville and 1.5 hours back to his house just to pickup deliver our couches!  Don’t worry everyone, I made it worth his trip by treating him to the best bacon cheeseburger on earth from Copper River.

Jason and I have been living a life of hand me downs and slipcovers for a loooong time.  Between living in dorms, college apartments and moving into our first house, the only new furniture we have ever purchased is a bed, two dressers and a small kitchen table.   For us, we have gotten a lot more joy out of the sporting and photography equipment we’ve purchased over the last 3 years then we would have gotten out of buying new living room furniture.  Or so I thought.  Now I’m not so sure.  Having practically new couches makes our entire house feel newer to me.  Like, I actually don’t want to just throw my purse, laptop bag and mail on the couch when I come home every day.  I want to put my things away so they aren’t covering my pretty new/used couch! I never knew how happy furniture could make me!

Kelli and Mike, thanks for the best free present EVER.  Seriously.

So here’s to 2010!  The year of no more slipcovers (except for our “dog couch”)!

Erin - No doggies allowed on people couches! They have their own couch right in front of the window so they can people watch all day!

abby - love the new furniture! where’s the dog hair?
